My Story
I'm asking you to sponsor my cycle ride in the 'RideLondon 60' event on 26 May. Together, we can buy as many pairs of shoes as possible for a bunch of kids who really need them. It's vital that children's feet are happy as they grow.
Pair Up is a campaign by refugee charity West London Welcome, to provide properly fitting shoes for refugee children. Asylum-seeking families often arrive with nothing and can’t even afford to buy second-hand clothes, never mind decent new shoes for their children.
If a decent pair of new school shoes costs £30-£60, how many pairs can you help me buy as I ride 60 miles out of London, into Essex and back?
- £15 (that's 25p per mile) might just about shod a child's foot.
- £30 (50p per mile) might buy a pair of reasonable trainers.
- £60 (£1 per mile) gets a refugee child a pair of Start-Rites.
- £120 buys a pair ...of pairs!
Pair up with me so that feet less fortunate than your own, or your children’s, get to feel happy and comfortable too – and ensure these vulnerable children can walk into school with the dignity they deserve.
