My Story

I've lived with Type 1 Diabetes since 2001. Since then, more and more people I know have been affected either directly or indirectly by Diabetes. This year, i've entered the Ford RideLondon-Essex 100 mile cycle ride with Tim, a friend of mine from the Farnborough & Camberley Cycling Club. Tim has a heart condition and I have Diabetes so together we will be churning through the miles to raise money for an incredibly important charity.

It's going to be an exciting journey and we hope for great weather but on top of the physical demand of cycling 100 miles it's also going to be a very big personal challenge. I'm going to need to monitor my glucose levels and ensure i'm taking on the fuel I need at regular intervals to complete the route.

With any donation you can spare, it'll encourage me to keep pedalling and i'd be extremely grateful for the support. The donations you make are going to help fund important care and technology needed for people to live a normal life with Diabetes. In 2024 we still don't have enough funding for everyone with Diabetes to access the care that they deserve and it can literally be a lottery as to whether or not something like the Freestyle Libre system can be funded by a local healthcare provider.

I appreciate any donation you can afford and each penny will help keep Tim and I in the saddle, and help someone living with Diabetes.

Thank you. Matt x
