My Story

I have been selected by the Invictus Games Foundation to participate in the RideLondon Essex 100-mile Challenge ride on May 26th, 2024.
The news of my selection was a pleasant surprise and has brought an added layer of
significance to my return to cycling.
After 11yrs service as a Navy Clearance Diver, spinal surgery and battles with mental health
unfortunately ended my military career in 2014.
Then, at the end of 2016 my, ‘adapt & overcome’ motto was severely put to the test when I was out cycling.
A car turned in front of me and I ploughed head on into it and left me fighting for life in ICU with a long list of injuries.
Head trauma- Mild traumatic brain injury, two punctured lungs, fractured neck C1, 5 fractured
vertebrae, 9 fractured ribs, wrist fracture, clavicle fracture and a bruised kidney.
This event, RideLondon Essex 100, marks not only my return to the sport but also a personal triumph over adversity.
During this journey I’ll be raising much needed funds for the The Invictus Games Foundation who offer a recovery pathway for international wounded, injured and sick servicemen and women (WIS).
The Invictus Games Foundation collaborate to provide opportunities for post-traumatic growth:
enabling those involved to reclaim their purpose, identity and future, beyond injury.
Thank you so much for your support!
